Perestroika. Nadezhda Keller (Anna Mikhalkova) is a journalist at a provincial Orenburg newspaper, who for years has been trusted with nothing more serious than writing notes about everyday life. After the death of her father – the famous journalist Boris Keller (Petar Zekavica), with whom she hadn’t communicated since childhood, since he left the family – Nadya accidentally finds notes that could change her perception of her father and decides to continue the investigation that he never managed to finish. The closer she gets to solving the mystery, the stronger the feeling becomes that her father deliberately left her traces of his past—and that the reason for his leaving the family is connected to what he was trying to uncover.
